This week in Mrs. Allison's Technology Education classes, students delved into the exciting world of welding, exploring potential career paths in the field. With the support of Tim Kilbourne, Teacher Training Coordinator at GoTec, students had the unique opportunity to experience virtual welding using Miller Augmentative Welders.
Throughout the week, students engaged in hands-on learning about the essential safety protocols and personal protective equipment (PPE) required for welding. They gained insights into the different types of welding, their applications, and various weld positions, as well as familiarizing themselves with common welding joints. "The virtual welders allow students to practice their skills in a safe environment while understanding the complexities of welding," said Kilbourne. "It's a fantastic way to introduce them to this critical trade."
Mrs. Allison emphasized the importance of such experiences in preparing students for future careers. "Understanding welding not only opens up job opportunities but also fosters skills that are applicable in many fields," she noted.
As students continue to explore the intricacies of welding, they are gaining valuable knowledge that will benefit them in their educational journeys and future careers in the trades.
