Dear Parents and Guardians,
As part of our ongoing commitment to ensuring the safety and security of our students and staff, we will be conducting a lockdown drill in the next two weeks. The code of Virginia requires school divisions to provide notice of lockdown drills to parents/guardians at least 24 hours prior to conducting the drill; this communication serves as that notice. You will receive a notice when the drill starts and when it is completed.
The purpose of this drill is to practice our emergency procedures and ensure that everyone knows how to respond in the event of a real emergency. The drill will be conducted in a calm and controlled manner, with teachers and staff guiding students through the process.
Please be aware that there may be emergency response vehicles present during the drill. This is a standard part of the exercise to help us simulate real-life scenarios and improve our preparedness. We ask that you do not come to the school during the drill.
Please be assured that these drills are a routine part of our safety protocols and are not in response to any specific threat. They are designed to help us all be better prepared and to ensure that our school remains a safe place for learning.
We understand that discussions about safety drills can sometimes be unsettling for children. We encourage you to talk with your child about the importance of these drills and to reassure them that they are a normal part of our safety practices.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the school office.
Thank you for your continued support and cooperation.
